SACI E-Board

Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention (SACI) Team is a registered student organization comprised of undergraduate and graduate students as well as community-member volunteers who are active in the movement against gendered violence. SACI members have been trained to provide advocacy to survivors of sexual violence. Members can be trained to help staff our 24-hour crisis line, 10am – 10pm crisis chat, crisis advocacy, and safe spaces around campus. The group works with the MSU Center for Survivors to provide support, empathy, and information to survivors of gendered violence. SACI delivers assistance to those who have been traumatized by sexual assault and coordinates programs that focus on awareness and direct service. To find out more information regarding volunteers opportunities please visit our Volunteering page!

SACI’s outreach activities include providing safe spaces for events on and around campus and going to resource fairs to spread the word about the MSU Center for Survivors. SACI is also involved in Take Back the Night, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and MSU It’s On Us Fall and Spring Week of Action. Keep up with us on Facebook and Instagram!

Bio to come!

Emma

Vice President

Hi! My name is Emma LaBarre and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I am going into my third year at MSU and I'm double majoring in Psychology and Social Relations & Policy. After graduating, I hope to go on to get an MSW! I want to be a therapist and also help improve mental health policy in the US. I did my training for SACI over the summer of 2020 and I have loved being a part of this community ever since. I decided to start volunteering with the Center for Survivors because I believe it is an unbelievably important cause and I wanted to learn how to better support survivors. Last year, I joined E-Board as the Political Outreach Chair, and this year I'm the Vice President. In my free time, I love to read, knit, and practice yoga. I'm so excited to be a part of E-Board again this year!

Mackenzie

Secretary

Hey! My name is Mackenzie Lovell (pronouns: she/her/hers), and I’m a junior double majoring in Social Relations & Policy and Comparative Cultures & Politics with a double minor in Women's & Gender Studies and Peace & Justice Studies. I joined SACI in March of 2022 and I’ve valued the opportunity of being able to volunteer and generally be a part of such an impactful program. This is my first year on the SACI E-board and I’m excited to do more work with SACI beyond volunteering and to be a prominent voice that advocates against gender-based sexual violence on campus. I hope to continue to provide accessible services to survivors, promote intersectionality, and further find ways to expand resources to the community. In my free time, I love playing with my dog (his name is Bernie and he’s the cutest little corgi), watching TV, hanging out with my friends and family, and weirdly…organizing and cleaning. I’m so excited and honored to serve on SACI’s eboard this year!

Krystal

Treasurer

Hello! My name is Krystal and I am a junior majoring in physiology and minoring in sociology through Lyman Briggs College and Honors College of MSU. Upon graduating, I plan on going to medical school to hopefully become a surgeon. My past year with SACI has been one of the best experiences of college, and I am excited to carry out my involvement as an E-board member!

Dana

Political Outreach Chair

Hi! My name is Dana William, and I'm a sophomore majoring in Human Biology. I joined SACI in October 2021 and this is my first time being on E-Board. I joined SACI because I have been passionate about helping survivors of abuse since 8th grade and want to spread awareness on campus. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing tennis, and spending time with my friends and family. I'm so excited to be on E-board this year and make a difference!

Heather

Community Outreach Chair

Hi! My name is Heather Nickels, I use she/her/hers pronouns, and I am a senior this upcoming year majoring in criminal justice and psychology. I began volunteering with SACI in the summer of 2021, and ever since, I have so enjoyed being a part of an organization that directly supports survivors at MSU and the greater community. This will be my first year on the executive board and I am excited to bring my ideas to expand SACI's community outreach even further. After graduation, I plan to pursue a master's degree in Social Work to continue to aid and advocate for individuals who need it. In my free time I enjoy dancing and painting.
