The Center for Survivors is proud to offer a variety of groups and workshops as a way to hold space for survivors, gather in community, and explore healing.

Community Connect
Mondays, 4:30- 5:30pm | Ongoing
  • An in-person, weekly support group focused on building community and fostering connections with fellow survivors. Conversation will be focused on the needs and interests of group members with topics prepared as needed.

Ear Acupuncture

Thursdays, 2-3pm | 5/28-8/20

  • Ear acupuncture is a nonverbal approach to healing that involves gentle placement of five small, sterilized, disposable needles into specific sites on each ear. The recipient sits quietly for 30-45 minutes allowing the treatment to take effect. Benefits of ear acupuncture include: Reduced cravings for alcohol and drugs, minimized withdrawal symptoms, increased calm, better sleep, relief from stress and emotional trauma, an easier connection with therapy, and a discovery of inner quiet and strength.

Art of Healing Art Workshops
Tuesdays, 1:30- 3:00pm | October 6- November 17
  • Explore healing and self-expression through art! Each week will feature a guided art activity and supplies. No prior art experience needed.

Healing through Yoga
Tuesdays, 3:00-4:00pm | September 22- December 8
  • A virtual, trauma informed yoga practice centered around healing and wellness; offered in collaboration with MSU Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS). All levels of practice welcome.

Gather & Game
Tuesdays, 3:00-4:30pm | October 6- 27
  • If you like playing board games, or you think you might like playing board games, come join us!  This is a low-pressure way to try out some easy and fun board games and card games. We will teach you the rules. All you need to do is play! No experience needed.
  • Open to all adult survivors & co-survivors.

Animation & Heroes
Wednesdays, 1:00-2:00pm | September 30-October 14
  • A drop-in workshop series using our favorite comfort movies to learn about reactions to trauma and dynamics of power/control. We'll approach difficult topics through the familiarity of iconic movie characters. Workshops will facilitate a fun and low pressure environment to learn more about trauma symptoms and relational patterns.

Survival Skills for Survivors
Wednesdays, 2:00-4:00pm | October 21-November 18
  • This group offers a 5-week journey to build resilience, process emotions and reconnect with your strengths in a supportive, judgment-free space. This group blends practical coping with creative art.

Journaling Group
Thursdays, 3:00-4:30pm | September 24-October 29
  • Interested in journaling, but not sure where to start? Join us for a beginner-friendly, creative approach to journaling. Each week we will explore a different theme together adapted from The Book of Alchemy by Suleika Jaouad. Book and journal provided to participants. Space is limited!
